About this Piece
Barry Wallond drew aircraft and railway subjects in pencil in the 1980s and 1990s, and his drawings were also issued as signed prints. The Avro Lancaster, designed by Roy Chadwick, entered service in 1942 and became Bomber Command's main heavy bomber. In all, 7,377 were built.
One Lancaster comes in low over a grass airfield, wheels down, its four propellers a blur. A second banks away above it against a streaked sky. A post-and-wire fence runs across the field behind.
Print after a pencil drawing. Signed in black ink lower right, above the printed name “B. WALLOND”. In a blue-grey mount with a small title plaque reading “AVRO LANCASTER”, within a mahogany-stained frame with a gilt slip.
