About this Piece
My Little Chickadee (Universal, 1940) paired Mae West and W. C. Fields in a Western comedy, and both stars were credited for the screenplay. Edward F. Cline directed. From 1948 Realart Pictures held the rights to re-release Universal's older films, and this card comes from that re-release.
Card 8 shows Fields as Cuthbert J. Twillie, in pinstripes, grey top hat and white buttonhole, eyes closed. A sharp-featured woman in a plumed hat leans in towards him. She appears to be Margaret Hamilton, who played the town gossip Mrs. Gideon a year after The Wizard of Oz.
Printed colour lobby card in Realart's orange border, with cartoon vignettes of West and of Fields as a pistol-firing cowboy. Printed ‘A Realart Picture’, card number ‘8’ and ‘Country of Origin U.S.A.’ Unframed. Surface creasing and small cracks to the lower and left margins.
