About this Piece
The photograph shows the Rolling Stones in their original five-man line-up: Mick Jagger, Brian Jones, Keith Richards, Bill Wyman and Charlie Watts. The poster dates it to London, 1965, the year ‘(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction’ became their first American number one. Brian Jones died four years later, in 1969.
The five stand close together against a plain wall. Jagger leans in on the left in a striped shirt. Jones wears a dark jacket over a white polo neck, Richards an open-necked shirt and Wyman a corduroy jacket. Watts looks on from the back with a half-smile.
Modern printed poster by Pyramid Posters, whose name is printed small at lower left. Lettered ‘THE ROLLING STONES LONDON 1965’ beneath the image. In a plain black frame.
