About this Piece
Sean Alexander (born 1968) is a British artist whose practice engages with the visual language of urban culture, public signage, and the textures of everyday life. 'No Ball Games' is characteristic of his work, appropriating the familiar iconography of municipal prohibition to produce a painting that is simultaneously witty, visually arresting, and quietly subversive.
The work is executed in mixed media, combining painted and collaged elements to achieve a surface of considerable visual complexity and interest. At 200 by 100 centimetres, it is a painting of real presence — large enough to command a room, bold enough to anchor a major wall, and possessed of the kind of cultural legibility that generates conversation.
The title and the artist's signature appear on the verso. In the tradition of British Pop and Street Art, 'No Ball Games' would suit a contemporary domestic interior, a corporate collection, or a public space with equal confidence. Subject to the Artist's Resale Right.
