About this Piece
A contemporary painting of a harbour village at low tide, probably on the English coast. The artist signs with a monogram only and has not been identified.
A small white yacht with a blue hull stripe leans on its keel in the foreground, its fenders hanging loose. Behind it the mud and weed are laid in broad bands of green, blue and ochre. A church with a grey spire rises over a row of white and red-brick cottages under a bright sky. The handling is flat and decorative, with dark outlines in the manner of Fauve and naïve painting.
Oil or acrylic on stretched canvas, unframed. Monogrammed and dated lower right “2020”. The boat’s name is painted on the bow, partly legible as “TEMO”.
