Zinedine Zidane with Angel's Wings

A contemporary oil of Zinedine Zidane at full stretch, left boot meeting the ball, in the all-white strip of Real Madrid. The artist has given him a large pair of feathered wings.

The pose recalls his volley in the 2002 Champions League final at Hampden Park, struck on the stroke of half-time, which won Real Madrid their ninth European Cup. The crowd behind is loosely painted. A pitch-side hoarding lettered “Afflick … John” runs across the picture.

Oil, with no signature visible on the front. In a wide silvered frame.
